Abstract
Pocket money management and financial planning are essential life skills that should be developed during adolescence. These skills play an important role in shaping responsible financial behavior and preparing young people for future financial independence. However, many adolescents still lack adequate knowledge of budgeting, spending priorities, and saving habits. This condition is also experienced by adolescents living in Nur Karomah Orphanage, Depok, who require practical financial education as part of their life-skill development.
This Community Service Program aimed to improve adolescents' understanding of pocket money management and basic financial planning. The program was conducted at Nur Karomah Orphanage, Depok, involving adolescent participants. The implementation methods included educational sessions, interactive discussions, budgeting simulations, educational games, and question-and-answer activities. The learning materials covered financial literacy, pocket money management, simple budgeting, distinguishing needs from wants, and the importance of saving.
The results indicated that participants gained a better understanding of how to manage their pocket money wisely. They became more aware of spending priorities, reducing unnecessary expenses, and allocating part of their pocket money for savings. Participants also showed great enthusiasm throughout the activities, indicating that financial education is highly relevant and beneficial for orphanage adolescents. It is expected that this program will encourage responsible financial behavior and support participants in achieving financial independence in the future.
